Link Popularity in Spain

Who's linking to your website?

Link Popularity is basically a measure of the number and quality of inbound links to your website. It refers to the total number of links or "votes" that a search engine has found linking to your website. At the simplest level, the more sites that link to your site, the more important your site will be regarded and ranked in the search engines.

That's the simplified explanation - it's actually a little more complicated than that. Search engines will also look at several other factors regarding these inbound links which include the quality and ranking of the sites that link to yours, the anchor text used when linking, how many other links are on the page that links to yours, the relevance of the page that links to yours etc… in addition to other factors.

Google, the Search Engine uses link popularity as an important factor when determining rank and positioning. Google uses what it calls PageRank™ (http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html) as an indicator of a page's value. Without a good Google PageRank, you are unlikely to appear high in Google search results. Since Google is the most powerful search engine, it is essential that you strive for a site with good link popularity, particularly when looking to attract visitors.

Link popularity can do a lot for your site, however, it should be part of an overall Search Engine Strategy including good content and SEO. Not only will many search engines rank your site higher, but links from other sites will also drive more traffic to you.
