General FAQ

  1. How Long has Sorted Sites been in business?
    Sorted Sites has been in business since January 2001. In June 2003 Sorted Sites merged with RedeDesigns which had also been in business since January 2001.
  2. Where are you based?
    Our Offices and main base of operation are in Tenerife Spain, but our servers are located in the Server House Facility in Fareham, United Kingdom.
  3. Can you build me a web site?

  4. I've downloaded your free Formmail.asp Script can you help me set it up?

Domain Registration FAQ

  1. What Information do I need in order to register a domain name?
    You need to provide: Your Name; Postal Address; Telephone Number and Email address. If you want to Register the domain in the name of your company then you will also need to supply the company name; a contact person and their job description.
  2. Do I own my domain name?
    Yes Absolutely! The domain will be registered in your name making you the legal owner.
  3. Can I change the owner of my domain name for example if I sell it to someone else?
    Yes, there is a charge for this levied by Nominet on UK domains but it is currently free for Global Domain Names.
  4. How can I verify the contact data on my domain name is correct?
    Use the WHOIS look-up tool provided on our web site. Simply enter your domain name and click "Perform Look-up".
  5. How long will my domain be registered for?
    Domain Names can be registered for periods of 1, 2, 3 and 5 years.
  6. Will you notify me before my domain expires?
    We will do our best to contact you and remind you of your domain expiry sometime in the 4 weeks running up to the expiry date. However, we cannot guarantee we will manage to reach you in time. It is your responsibility to know the expiry date of your domain and renew it at least 48 hours prior to expiry.
  7. When must I renew my domain?
    You can renew your domain and add additional years to your current registration period anytime up to 48 hours before its expiry date.
  8. What if I forget renew my domain before it expires?
    If you fail to renew your domain at least 48 hours before its expiry, then your domain may expire and your web site and email will stop working. For your protection, after the domain expires it enters a "Redemption Period", this prevents the domain being released back onto the public market for registration by anyone. There is a 160 Euros + IGIC Administrative fee for redeeming expired domains.
  9. Can I transfer my domain away from Sorted Sites to another Registrar?
    Yes, this is your right. You can transfer your domain away anytime apart from a) during the first 60 days of its registration, b) during the last 30 days of its registration period and c) after the domain has expired. Transferring your domain away effectively cancels your registration agreement with Sorted Sites and no refunds are offered for time remaining on your registration.
  10. Can I transfer my domain to the Sorted Sites Registry?
    Yes, and we will honour your current registration and add 1, 2, 3 or 5 years to your current registration period. The costs are the same as registering or renewing your domain for 1, 2, 3 or 5 years respectively.

    We provide exclusively Windows Hosting Packages, however support most technologies used by Linux servers including Perl, PHP and MySQL. (See our Business Hosting Plan.)
  2. Do you provide Web based access to email accounts?
    Yes, you can access your mailbox using our Web Mail Service: World Client. You can also access your email using a Mail Client like Outlook Express.
  3. How do I set-up my mailbox in Outlook 2000/XP or Outlook Express

    Our Technical Support Service is available 7 days a week, simply submit a support request via our web site and you are guaranteed a prompt reply. We also supply an extensive online knowledge base.
  5. Where are your servers located?
    Our Servers are located in Server House, Fareham, United Kingdom.
  6. What type of Internet Connection do you have?
    Our Servers are connected to the Internet via a 100 Mbps redundant Connection provided by New Net plc.
  7. Are your servers independently monitored?
    Yes our servers are monitored by Web Site Pulse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Should a problem occur our technicians are notified immediately and will respond in kind.
  8. What's your average uptime?
    Our average uptime is in excess of 99.9%. Well above the industry average.
